Public Relations, Marketing and Communications Committee
The Public Relations, Marketing and Communications Committee was set up to look after event funding and marketing of the BID and Hastings Town Centre. At the recent Board Meeting, a report was given to the Board of Directors. A summary of the report is below:
Hanging baskets were installed on Queens Road in May 2017 at a cost of £4,020.
The BID installed more Christmas lights than ever before, with lights reaching the top end of Queens Road and covering the whole of Wellington Place, Robertson Street and the bottom end of Cambridge Road. The Christmas lights came in under budget at £8,859. The Committee plans to extend the Christmas lights to other areas in future years, dependant on safety (stress testing of lamp posts) and budget. The remainder of this year’s budget will be transferred to cost-saving initiatives and next year’s Christmas light budget.
The Committee has supported 5 large events in Hastings Town Centre since July this year. All these events benefit the up and coming White Rock and America Ground area.
£5,300 – skydivers sponsorship, Pirate Day
£1,000 – Storylines, Rock Alley, Claremont
£300 – Hastings Pride procession
£1,000 – Storytelling Festival, large installation in Robertson Street
£3,007.23 – Santa’s Arrival Parade (budgeted £3,500)
To date the BID has spent £10,607 on event funding, with a total matched fund of £70,052, equating to a 66% return on investment.
The Committee encourages event funding applications for events that benefit the Town Centre. If you are holding an event, big or small, please email us for an application form.
The Love Hastings website is still under construction in places, however, is available for the public to use. Further updates will be made in the next financial year. |
