Guided Walk To The Wreck Of The Amsterdam
February 22, 2019 @ 8:00 am - 9:00 am
| £6This year is special for the Amsterdam as 2019 marks the 270th anniversary of its being driven ashore at Bulverhythe during a furious storm which was sweeping the area.
If you are interested in seeing this unique piece of our local heritage, which also has national and international significance, then you should make your way to the Viewing Platform, which is to be found by Bulverhythe Beach at the far side of the railway bridge at the end of Bridge Way, West St Leonards by 8am. The cost is £6 for adults and £2 for children and this price includes a copy of the fully-illustrated Amsterdam guidebook by Dr Peter Marsden, founder of the Museum and renowned expert on the wreck. Tickets can be purchased from the walk leaders on the day itself but it is recommended that, if possible, you book beforehand, either in person at the Shipwreck Museum or by telephone on 01424 437452, in both cases at weekends only please. You can also email info@shipwreckmuseum.co.uk to indicate that you will be joining the visit and then pay on the day.
Please make sure that (a) you wrap up well as it can be somewhat chilly on Bulverhythe Beach, especially early in the morning and (b) you wear suitable footwear to cope with both water and somewhat squidgy conditions!
