Hastings and St Leonards Save Our Heritage Group
Aims and objectives
To promote the permanent preservation of local heritage assets in Hastings and St Leonards
for the benefit of the Nation.
To foster an appreciation of the history of Hastings and St Leonards and to create a “Local
Heritage Asset List”
The Group comments on planning applications affecting buildings with local listing
potential. Provides historical and architectural information to support objections to
unsympathetic applications. Supported schemes that bring buildings back into use by a
marriage of sympathetic conservation and contemporary architecture.
The Group is currently working on a project to identify the architects, builders and
estates/landowners who built Hastings and St Leonards. The aim of the project is to create an
online database to support the appreciation and conservation of the town’s built heritage.
