Hastings Museum – Donations: The Went Tree Trust Exhibition

Alderman Tree was Mayor of Hastings four times between 1891 and 1904. When he died in 1927 at the age of 82, he left a trust fund to buy objects for the museum collection.

Over the years the Museum Fund allowed the Went Tree Trust to gift a wide range of objects to the museum, from fine arts by distinguished and influential artists to the documents relating to the history and development of Hastings.

This exhibition, the first in a series, showcases some of the donations that have been made to the museum over the years.

The most notable of these donations include collections from John Logie Baird, JMW Turner, James and Decimus Burton, Clare Sheridan and Robert Tressell.
